A mother watched in horror as her two-year-old son was hit and killed by a train at a level crossing.

Johnny Hall toddled down a path onto the track in Cambridgeshire, Great Britain.

Police said the little boy had taken the footpath leading towards the line and his mother had tried in vain to catch him. She then witnessed the horrific accident.

The child and his mother had been visiting a local traveller's site when the accident happened.

"No blame is placed on anyone. There is only deep sorrow," the toddler's aunt, Eileen Connors, said in a statement on behalf of the Hall family.
