NEW YORK – Close to 100 percent of Americans agree that text messaging while driving should be banned, according to a study released Tuesday, Reuters reports.

The Harris Interactive survey found that 57 percent of those polled admitted to messaging while driving and 91 percent said the practice is as dangerous as driving after having a couple of drinks, while 89 percent said it should be against the law.
The poll surveyed 2,049 U.S. adults between June 29 and July 3, making the study’s margin of error plus or minus 3 percentage points.
