Mark Silva is the political editor of The Orlando Sentinel.   Silva's domain includes coverage of state and national politics.  He also writes a weekly column.

Silva covered the 2000 presidential campaign nationally as well as the recount and the newspapers' post-election examination of ballots.  He covered Gov. Jeb Bush's campaigns in 1994 and in 1998, and is covering the 2002 governor's race.

Silva has covered politics in Florida since the early 1980's. He joined The Sentinel in May after reporting for The Miami Herald for 21 years as a government, education and political reporter, including as chief of the Tallahassee bureau for 15 years, and as senior political writer for the last two years.

Silva has a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
