The mother of a 10-year-old rape victim has pleaded guilty to failing to provide proper prenatal care for her daughter.

The 27-year-old mother was originally charged with felony injury to a child, but Fremont County prosecutors reduced the charge. She's set for sentencing on Sept. 30.

St. Anthony Police Department Sgt. Terry Harris testified in court that the mother gave her daughter a pregnancy test about four months before the girl's child was born. The victim was 9 when she became pregnant.

Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez has been charged with three counts of rape in connection with the case. He has pleaded innocent and is scheduled for trial on Sept. 25.
