An Oregon man who was reported missing by his wife a week ago wasn't really missing — he was taking a break from her, The Oregonian reported.

William Peterson said he and his wife, Pam, got into an argument and she told him to leave, so he did.

His wife said the fight with her husband happened months ago and she didn't remember telling him to get out.

Peterson spent the week camping and fishing, according to the newspaper.

His wife reported him missing after he left for an overnight fishing trip, but when he failed to show up for work, she got worried and contacted police.

"(Pam Peterson) told us she got a call from her husband Saturday night," Cornelius Police Cmdr. Ed Jensen told the newspaper. "We were able to call his cell number before he shut the phone off and found out there was more to the story than we were told. He called (his wife on Saturday) to see if he was welcome home."
