Miley Cyrus Refuses to Be a Teen Idol, Believes Parents Shouldn’t Expect a 16-Year-Old to Raise Their Kids

Miley Cyrus, otherwise known as Disney’s Hannah Montana, is without doubt the most famous teen of her generation and in due part has had her share of successes and scandals. While the 16-year-old singer/actress is happy to embrace her duties as a tween/teen role model, she refuses to be conformed to the title of an "Idol."

"If you look at me as a role model I agree with it, but if you look at me as an idol, I don’t. An idol for me is someone you want to replicate, you want to be them and I don’t wish that on anyone to lose what they have personally," Cyrus said on Monday while promoting the upcoming Hannah Montana movie. "What I think people like about me is that I don’t try to change, I haven’t let what I do for a living become my life and completely affect me. What I do in my personal life isn’t necessarily meant to be reported but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be."

So despite a string of photo scandals including racy snaps, an "inappropriate" shoot for Vanity Fair magazine and supposedly racist candids of Cyrus making "slanty eyes," the starlet (who has a wildly witty sense of humor and doesn’t take herself too seriously) has no regrets.

"I’m going to make mistakes and I wouldn’t trade that for anything because I always say the minute you stop making mistakes is the minute you stop learning," she explained. "I never want to disappoint people and my decisions sometimes not only disappoint other people, but disappoint myself as well. If I don’t then, all of a sudden I am not real and then you really can’t look up to me."

The "Disney" dame was also quick to agree with her co-star Jason Earles that she shouldn’t have to bear the burden of being Miss Perfect all of the time.

"It is unfair to expect a 16-year-old to raise your kids. While she does occasionally make mistakes, that’s a good opportunity for parents to educate their kids on the different decisions they can make," Earles said. "There is things that are very inspirational about her, but anyone who thinks she, 100 percent of the time, should be can be the shining example, you are only misleading yourselves."

And despite the many, many millions Miss Miley as already earned at such a tender age, it seems the intense penetration into her personal life and romantic relationships has made her question her chosen career path.

"People are always saying I’m over-working and overexposed and that’s what I want is all the attention but that’s not what I want at all. I can’t help it if there are 40 photographers outside my house -- I try to keep my life as private as I can," she added. "If I had known coming into this that I would have all those photographers outside my house I might have given it all a second thought."

War Of Words: Lady Sovereign Bites Back at Perez Hilton

While he is the birthday boy, is he a backstabber, too? English rapper Lady Sovereign barked back at Perez Hilton after he claimed she did a no-show to his SXSW bash last weekend because she was "too sick" from days of heavy partying.

Sovereign told Tarts exclusively that she was pretty "surprised and disappointed" by the whole affair as Hilton fully new the situation, which was that she had genuinely lost her voice following several performances and interviews throughout the high-profile music festival.

"We have been "twighting" -- arguing on twitter. One minute he says good to see you and all that, and then he calls me a twat and unprofessional. Unprofessional would have been me lip-syncing as he asked me to do backstage," the 23-year-old spat back. "But I just don’t do that. I don't hold grudges against people; I just get on with it. I did want to perform but I basically couldn't if I tried, I would have [messed] up my throat major."

Apparently the gossip gangster was super-understanding backstage as they posed for pics together (well, that was just before he went on-stage and called her things too graphic to repeat) and then last week turned back around and invited Lady Sov. to his birthday bender. Oh, Hollywood!

However the young rapper said she’s over it and is too busy focusing on her second album "Jigsaw" which drops next week to worry what he thinks.

"You can expect a bit of everything really, everything meaning I always try new things out, different genre's and delivery styles," Sovereign said of the new album. "I also tried a bit of singing too; a few of the topics are pretty personal."

AskMen.com, the largest online men's magazine, just announced the inaugural edition of its "Top 29 Cities for Men to Live In." Compiled by AskMen.com editors, Chicago topped the list as the best city in the world for the everyday man, based on eight categories including the rate of employment, ratio of single women to men, frequency of cultural activities, sporting events and they even took into consideration the cost of a pint of beer.

"In these times Chicago just embodies all things guys like about cities. It has sports, a great gourmet food scene as well as trashy food," James Bassil, editor-in-chief of AskMen.com told Tarts. "And now it has the added cachet of being the home city of the President."

Taking second place was Barcelona followed by San Francisco, London, Sydney, New York, Berlin, Hong Kong and Copenhagen with Paris rounding out the top ten.

"Barcelona has beautiful women, food, architecture and in this economy it is faring well compared to most cities in Europe," Bassil added.
