Prince George's County police say a woman fatally shot her husband after he attacked her at the Capitol Heights duplex where they lived.

Police were called to the home in the 700 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard around 8 a.m. Saturday for a report of a domestic dispute and found 30-year-old Richard Wilson in front of the house with a gunshot wound.

Wilson was taken to a hospital, where police say he died.

Police say Wilson's wife fired the fatal shot and though the circumstances are unclear, the shooting appears to have been in self-defense. Police say Wilson violated an active protective order when he attacked his wife.

Police declined to name the woman, saying she is a victim in the case and has not been charged.
