Maria Shriver (search), the famously Democratic wife of Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (search), will return to her roots when she attends the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Shriver, a member of the Kennedy family, plans a low-key visit primarily to attend family gatherings and watch her uncle, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy (search), deliver a prime-time speech to delegates the second night of the convention.

"She is going back for family-related activities — ceremonies that honor the legacies of her family members," said her spokeswoman, Terri Carbaugh.

On the first day of the convention, July 26, Shriver will participate in the dedication of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, a downtown park named for her grandmother, the Kennedy family matriarch.
