Authorities on Tuesday searched for a man wanted in two slayings after a pair of women reported that someone matching his description broke into a home and sexually assaulted them.

Tobias Chano "Toby" Lee (search), 28, is wanted in killings in the Atlanta area and South Carolina. He's also a suspect in several rapes and an armed robbery.

Two women said a man matching Lee's description broke into a Columbus home Monday afternoon, sexually assaulted them and tied them up before stealing a car, police Lt. Mark D. Starling said. The women escaped and called authorities.

On Sunday, Lee narrowly eluded police after a car chase. Officers caught up with him as he tried to flee in a white car. He eventually crashed into a squad car, jumped out of the vehicle and escaped.

Authorities said his crime spree began Oct. 22, when a man was shot to death at a housing project in East Point, just outside Atlanta (search).

In South Carolina, Lee is suspected of killing another man who was fatally shot in the chest Nov. 24 after trying to stop two men from stealing his truck.

He is also wanted for a rape in Buena Vista, Ga. (search), on Nov. 22 and an armed robbery in Columbia, S.C., on Nov. 23.

Lee's past arrests were all drug-related, and officials were not sure what triggered the violent attacks.
