CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A Cheyenne man hospitalized for four months after officers held him down and arrested him in April 2007 is suing police for his injuries.
Attorneys for Daris R. Peters and his mother claim that police violated Peters' civil rights when three officers used a stun gun and held him down, cutting off his breathing. The lawsuit filed Monday says that Peters was treated for cardiac arrest and spent four months recovering in hospitals in Cheyenne and Denver.
The lawsuit says Peters, an Iraq War veteran, is now brain damaged and lives in a group home.
An attorney for the city did not immediately return messages left by the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
