Deputies in South Florida say a 21-year-old woman is dead after being shot by a passenger who was playing with a gun in the back seat of a car she was driving.

Broward County deputies responded to a 911 call in Pompano Beach early Tuesday and found a woman lying on the ground near a car in the city hall parking lot.

The woman, Tiffany Littlepage of Fort Lauderdale, said she had been shot. She was transported to North Broward Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Deputies say Carlos Martin, a passenger in the back seat, was playing with a gun when it fired and struck Littlepage. Martin has been charged with manslaughter.

Available records do not indicate if he has an attorney.
