We don’t call them man’s best friend for nothing.

A man from England has credited his dog with “sniffing out” a life-threatening form of cancer, the BBC reported.

Chris Tuffrey, from north Oxfordshire, told the BBC his Rottweiler “Beamish” kept nuzzling and licking him near a mole on his chest that he’d had for 15 years.

Finally, Tuffrey went to the doctor to get it checked out where they confirmed it was melanoma. The cancerous mole was removed a short-time later.

Tuffrey feels incredibly lucky to have such an observant dog.

''He's absolutely brilliant," he told the BBC. "He's a very laid back dog, and I shall be grateful to him for the rest of my life.''
