CHICAGO – The man accused of killing three members of actress Jennifer Hudson's family is slated to appear before a judge in Chicago later in the day.
William Balfour is the estranged husband of the Oscar winner's sister, Julia Hudson. Balfour is charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of the sisters' mother, Darnell Donerson, their brother, Jason Hudson, and Julia Hudson's 7-year-old son, Julian King.

The 27-year-old Balfour is also facing home invasion charges. He's being held without bond.
Prosecutors contend that Balfour killed the family members in a jealous rage because he thought Julia Hudson had a new boyfriend.
However, defense attorney Joshua Kutnick says evidence linking Balfour to the shootings is weak.
