Male UCLA Student Slashes Female's Throat in Science Lab, Police Say

A female UCLA student is in critical condition after a male student allegedly slashed her throat at a science lab on campus Thursday afternoon, the Los Angeles Times reported.

University of California Los Angeles police took the unidentified suspect into custody and sealed off Young Hall, where the school's chemistry department is located, the newspaper reported.

"We have asked students to stay away from Young Hall," UCLA police spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein told the Times.

Additional details about the attack, and if the two knew each other weren't immediately clear.
