London police say they will not investigate whether Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell perjured himself during an inquest into her death.

Burrell gave three days of testimony during the inquest before returning to his home in the United States and being caught on a hidden camera saying he had not been completely truthful.

He sent a statement to the hearing denying he lied, but has refused to return to London to explain himself.

London's Scotland Yard said Friday there is not enough evidence to justify a perjury investigation.

A jury in the inquest found that Diana was unlawfully killed. Burrell claims he was her close confidante.
