Rep. Dennis Kucinich (search) finally won a primary Tuesday, but not in the presidential race.

The Democrat easily won the primary for his northeast Ohio congressional district, getting 36,691 votes, or 85 percent, with 52 percent of precincts reporting. Challenger George Pulling (search) had 6,252 votes, or 15 percent.

In the Republican primary, Edward Fitzpatrick Herman (search), a real estate agent and former Army intelligence officer, defeated three other challengers.

State law allowed Kucinich to run for both president and Congress, but his presidential campaign has been considered a long-shot from the start. He lagged even in his home state Tuesday, getting only 7 percent of the vote with 81 percent of precincts reporting.
