Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, Madonna and The Emmys in the bright glow of The Foxlight.

The new Guinness Book of World Records says Julia Roberts is the highest paid actress for a single film. She got $20 million for Erin Brockovich, but she took something closer to scale for the upcoming Ocean's Eleven. I guess we are in a recession.

But here's the thing I don't understand: Bruce Willis made the most money of any actor last year according to Guinness, $70 million. For what? Unbreakable? I think those Guinness people have been drinking their namesake.

Meanwhile, Britain's top-earning woman isn't even British. It's Madonna. The Sunday Times published its annual list of the top female earners and Madonna tops the list as the most material girl with $43.8 million. She even beat the Queen. That can't be good manners.

Finally, nice dress Ellen. DeGeneres apparently shops at the Goodwill near Bjork's house. As a gag, the Emmy host wore a version of Bjork's swan dress from the Oscars. DeGeneres also got off a pretty good line or two at the Emmys Sunday night. She said the terrorists "can't take away our creativity, our striving for excellence, our joy. Only network executives can do that."
