Jessica Simpson was released from a Los Angeles hospital Monday after being treated for a minor kidney infection, her representative told FOXNews.com.

"She was released and is doing much better," the spokeswoman said.

In Touch magazine first reported that the singer had been hospitalized.

“She checked in on Friday morning because she was feeling achy and had a fever,” a friend of the family told the magazine.

Simpson was kept at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center over the weekend for observations.
