A woman was arrested Monday in connection with the slaying of an Australian tourist who was found stabbed to death in his ransacked hotel room in the Jamaican resort of Montego Bay, police said.

The woman — whom police only identified as a prostitute — was being questioned in the killing of 27-year-old Brian Johnston, who was found Friday with multiple stab wounds, Montego Bay police said in a statement.

She has not been charged, and police did not provide a motive for the killing.

Johnston, of Melbourne, had arrived in Montego Bay two days before his death from Washington D.C., where he worked, the Gloucester Hotel said in a statement. A hotel attendant found his body.

Johnston is the second foreigner to be killed in the area in less than a month.

On July 20, a pregnant, 37-year-old Swedish woman was found mutilated at her home in Hanover parish. Police have made no arrests in that case.
