An Israeli airstrike targeting a group of militants in the northern Gaza Strip killed two Palestinians and wounded seven others Thursday, Palestinian witnesses and health officials said.

The airstrike appeared aimed at a group of three militants from the militant Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades gathered near the town of Jebaliya, according to witnesses. Ambulances and security rushed to the scene.

A spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces said an airstrike was launched on a building where a senior Al Aqsa militant was staying.

The strike was the latest in a wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting Palestinian militant leaders and militants trying to fire rockets from Gaza into Israel.
