An Indiana man was killed while feeding a parking meter.

Richard E. Conner, 71, was standing on a sidewalk in downtown Fort Wayne, Ind., on Friday morning when a Ford Ranger struck the parking meter and pinned him underneath its front bumper and wheel. Conner was killed instantly, said Fort Wayne police spokesman Michael Joyner.

Joyner said a Kia minivan ran a red light and collided with the side of the Ford Ranger, sending it out of control. The Ranger hit the back of Conner's Pontiac parked on the side of the street, then continued up on to the sidewalk.

Neither the driver of the van nor the driver of the truck was injured. No charges have been filed.
