A dispute between a husband and his estranged wife Monday ended with the man and the woman dead and their 11-month-old child injured, authorities said.

The couple began arguing after the man showed up at a home to return their child after a weekend visitation. The two were supposed to meet somewhere else, said sheriff's spokesman Maj. Dan Johnson.

Chamaiporn Chongpatana, 27, was stabbed at least 15 times and shot once, said Robin Forrest, an investigator with the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday for 39-year-old Xao Steve Zang, Forrest said.

Police said it appeared he also was stabbed and shot.

The shot that struck Chongpatana went through the leg of the child she was holding, Forrest said.

Zang died at the scene shortly after the 11:30 a.m. shooting, while Chongpatana died at the hospital.
