Authorities say five people have been killed in an early-morning fire at a house in western Germany.

The German news agency DAPD reported that emergency services were alerted to the fire in Unna, near Dortmund, shortly after 4:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said five people died, one person was seriously injured and another lightly injured. They said six people were registered as living in the house but there may also have been guests inside at the time.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
