Sen. Hillary Clinton's visit Sunday to Alabama will include a breakfast meeting with top Democrats in Montgomery before she heads to Selma for the Bridge Crossing Jubilee.

Joe Reed, vice chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party, announced Thursday that the Democratic presidential candidate had added a Montgomery stop to her Alabama schedule. She will have breakfast with about 50 Democratic leaders at the Embassy Suites Hotel at 8:30 a.m., he said.

After the breakfast, she will travel to Selma to participate in the annual event commemorating when voting rights marchers were attacked by state troopers on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965.

Reed said the Montgomery stop stems from Alabama moving up its 2008 presidential primary by four months to Feb. 5, making Alabama part of the first big day of primaries.

"If you have an early primary, people pay attention to you," Reed said.
