Hillary Clinton Returns with Some Thunder

O'REILLY:  Hi, I'm Bill O'Reilly. Thanks for watching us tonight. We'll have the Aziz story in a moment.

But first, Hillary Clinton returns with some thunder. That's subject to this evening's Talking Points Memo.

According to the president of the Dominican Republic, Hillary and Bill did have lunch with the Prime Minister Chretien of Canada. This is controversial because Chretien has been a harsh critic of the Bush administration and of America during the war in Iraq.

But far more importantly, there are now charges that Senator Clinton may have faked information that she was instrumental in helping some families affected by 9/11.

You may remember The Factor reported more than a year ago that Mrs. Clinton had avoided almost all funerals and memorial services for those New Yorkers killed in the World Trade Center attack. Here is what the senator said about it.

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: One TV talk show host, Bill O'Reilly, is assailing you now for what he charges is indifference to the families of 9-11 victims. He says you have only attended three memorial services. Your response?

SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON (D), NEW YORK:  Well, you know, he assails me for something nearly every day, and I -- I feel sorry for him. I have done everything I can, not only attending the memorial services that were held in New York and in Washington, going to the funerals of the people that I knew personally. I do not believe, after a long lifetime in and around politics, that people should thrust themselves into private grief just because they're politicians.

O'REILLY: All right.

According to the writer, Steven Brill, there are some problems with Mrs. Clinton's concern. Mr. Brill's new book, After: How America Confronted the September 12 Era, is a study of what happened after 9/11. Apparently Senator Clinton's office misled Mr. Brill. He will be here in a moment to tell us about it.

But there is no question that Mrs. Clinton continues to be a major source of controversy, and the Chretien meeting is a good example of that. The importance of this is that Hillary Clinton is the most powerful Democrat in the United States right now and a likely presidential candidate in 2008. It's imperative that Americans know her true character, which is why we are dealing with these situations.

And that's The Memo.

The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

Time now for "The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day"...

Here are the results of the billoreilly.com poll, which asked the question should the U.S. government have the right to criminalize sexual activity between consenting adults.

At this point -- and we are keeping this poll open on billoreilly.com -- 69 percent of about 20,000 people say, no, don't want sex police; 31 percent say, yes, the government has a right to come in and bust you for doing naughty things.

The poll was launched after the Senator Santorum controversy, and, today, the leader of the largest polygamist sect in Utah says he, too, rejects to Santorum's remarks.  Now we're guessing his multiple wives concur.

Eighty-nine-year Allred Owen -- Owen Allred, I should say, says he should be allowed to do anything he wants indoors without the government on his back.  Like there'd be room.

Anyway, it's ridiculous.
