LOS ANGELES – At least one of the outlets that sold tickets to the canceled New Year's Eve party featuring the Black Eyed Peas and other bands is offering a refund, it was announced Tuesday.
Groovetickets said anyone who bought a ticket to the Giant Village event will be eligible for a refund of the face value of the ticket or for a "make up events package consisting of multiple events of greater value."
Ticket holders were given a Thursday deadline to e-mail the company requesting a refund or exchange.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience which this has caused everyone and we hope that all of you were able to make the best of your New Years," President and Chief Executive Officer Todd Sims said in the Web site announcement.
As many as 20,000 people were left in the lurch when the Saturday concert in Los Angeles was canceled for weather-related reasons. Tickets sold for $85 or more.
Organizer Dave Dean decided to cancel the outdoor event after city fire officials said a drenching storm was moving through the region and they worried that it could pose a threat to both patrons and artists using electrical equipment.
As it turned out, the rain stopped falling several hours before the event started.
