A stumbling block in the case of missing girl Madeleine McCann occurred Tuesday morning when her father, Gerry McCann’s, wallet containing precious photographs of his daughter was stolen at Gatwick Airport in London.

The Daily Mail reports Gerry McCann was had flown from Faro to Gatwick Airport, and was planning to interview candidates to run the campaign to find Madeleine when he was targeted by pickpockets.

Philomena McCann, Gerry's sister, said the photos “were two pictures, special ones that Gerry always kept with him, showing Madeleine and the wens. They were his favorites, really treasured pictures. They are irreplaceable.”

"He bent down to put something in his rucksack, and some dirty animal had the wallet out of his back pocket,” she said.

Susan Healey, grandmother of Madeline said Gerry McCann did not know how his wallet was stolen and did not see anyone take it.

“It contained precious photographs which have now been lost forever,” she said. “There can't be many people who don't recognize Kate and Gerry now - shame on the thieves for doing it. Hopefully when they see the photos of Madeleine in the wallet they will realize what they have done."
