A Gwinnett County, Ga. (search), committee is reconsidering a recent ban on smoking inside restaurants and bars after business owners began complaining that they are losing money as a result of the new rule.

What makes this policy different from smoking bans in California and New York is that rather than going after businesses, this law targets the smokers themselves.

"It's hurt our happy hour and dinner crowd," said Steve Zunker, a bar manager at Willie McGee's Sports Bar (search), which sits on the county line. "A lot of [customers] go across the street or they just go somewhere in Fulton County 'cause we're so close to other restaurants."

County Commission Chairman Wayne Hill (search) is one the committee members re-examining the smoking ban. He said despite some minor changes, he thinks the prohibition will remain.
