The Fresno County coroner says a high school student who was shot and killed by a police officer he attacked with a baseball bat had prescription drugs in his system.
Seventeen-year-old sophomore Jesus "Jesse" Carrizales died April 16 of a single-round fired by school resources officer Junus Perry.
Police say Carrizales ambushed the officer on an outdoor ramp at Roosevelt High School. Investigators later found a small butcher knife protruding from Carrizales' pocket.
Carrizales' family says the troubled teenager didn't get the help he needed from school officials. He had been prescribed drugs used to treat depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
