Fourteen Killed in Chinese Mine Blast

China's (search) government says there's been another explosion in a Chinese coal mine (search). It says 14 people were killed and three injured in the latest blast.

Accidents are often blamed on a lack of safety equipment or indifference to safety rules, although the cause of this blast hasn't been reported.

China's mines are the world's most dangerous. More than five-thousand deaths have been reported this year.

A Chinese news report says the country's main coal-producing province has tripled the amount of money mines must pay families of miners killed on the job.
