A former correction officer has been sentenced to 203 years in prison for a string of Long Island kidnappings, robberies and rapes.

A Nassau County jury in November found 43-year-old Ricardo Walters guilty of rape, robbery, criminal sexual act, sexual abuse, kidnapping and attempted kidnapping. Walters had guarded inmates at New York City's Rikers Island jail for more than 10 years.

Prosecutors say Walters would approach women on the street, display his registered handgun and demand money. He would try to force the women into secluded areas to sexually assault them.

Walters was arrested in 2007 after a Hempstead police officer saw him try to force a woman into a construction site.

Walters' attorney says his client should've faced separate trials in each of the attacks.
