A former chemistry professor at Arkansas Tech University has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a charge he stalked a person he believed was a teenage girl on the Internet.

Federal prosecutors say Albert Snow, 33, actually was enticing to an undercover police officer to have sex with him. A federal jury dismissed Snow's claim that police had entrapped him.

U.S. District Judge Bill Wilson Jr. sentenced him Wednesday to 10 years in prison, the federal minimum sentence. Snow told the judge that he will appeal his conviction.

Wilson ordered Snow to report to federal prison on Sept. 22.

Snow was arrested in January 2007 after showing up at a Russellville apartment complex where police say he expected to meet a 15-year-old girl.
