Authorities say a veteran Florida Highway Patrol trooper was fired after pistol-whipping a 17-year-old boy in Orlando.

Police say 47-year-old Charles Davis got into two separate altercations with teens near his home early Sunday morning.

A report says he yelled at a group and tried to punch one teen, who put the off-duty trooper in a choke hold. The group left the area when Davis said he was going to get his gun.

A short time later, the report says Davis began yelling at another group of teens. He swung his gun at one teen and hit him on the head and shoulder.

Officer responding to the fight described Davis as verbally abusive.

Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. He was later released on $3,500 bail.
