Two Miami-Dade Police Department officers were relieved from duty without pay Thursday after they were caught on a TV news camera roughing up a robbery suspect.

The suspension came after authorities said they were checking Wednesday’s footage “frame by frame” to determine whether the attack was justified. The investigation is ongoing.

Police pursuits are always reviewed by command staff to see if there’s a violation of state law or individuals’ rights, a Miami-Dade public information officer told FOX News.

Wednesday’s incident involved a robbery suspect who had led police on a lengthy, high-speed car chase, weaving through traffic, crashing into a wall and finally fleeing on foot. The video shows officers catching up with the suspect and pouncing on him, with at least one officer punching him numerous times and another kicking him.
