Federal prosecutors are seeking information on the foreign assets of a Kansas doctor and his wife convicted of running a so-called pill mill.

Dr. Stephen Schneider and his wife, Linda, were found guilty last month of money laundering, health care fraud and unlawfully prescribing drugs at their Haysville clinic. The clinic served hundreds of pain patients and was linked by prosecutors to several overdose deaths.

Prosecutors asked a judge Wednesday to let them subpoena information on the Schneiders' assets in Mexico. The government is preparing for the forfeiture part of the trial, to be held before a judge at some future date.

A sentencing date would be set after all the trial proceedings are finished.
