• Magic Johnson has promised jobs for some of the Katrina victims staying in a Los Angeles shelter. The former NBA star runs his own corporation, which includes fitness centers and chain restaurants.
• The Rolling Stones will put donation booths at the concert venues of their current "A Bigger Bang Tour." The band also announced a donation of $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
• Kevin Smith is holding an online auction on his Web site, http: 1/4 1/4http://www.ViewAskew.com, with items including a walk-on role in his upcoming movie, "Clerks 2: The Passion of the Clerks," and a barbecue at his home. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross. The auction ends Sept. 16.
• "ReAct Now: Music & Relief" will air Saturday on MTV, VH1 and CMT (8 p.m. EDT) with artists including the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow, Alan Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, the Neville Brothers and Kanye West.
• Three Doors Down, a band whose members' Mississippi homes were damaged in the hurricane, will hold a benefit show Saturday in Atlanta. The band also said it would donate $1 from every ticket they've sold so far this year to the Better Life Foundation, raising nearly $300,000.
• The "American Idols Live!" tour will hold a benefit show Sunday in Syracuse, N.Y. Bo Bice, who has been sidelined from the tour after intestinal surgery last month, will return for the benefit and the prior show on Saturday.
• From Sept. 11-18, jazz musicians in New York will raise money for the Red Cross with shows in clubs throughout the city.
• The Neville Brothers will join the Dave Matthews Band benefit concert at Red Rocks Ampitheater in Denver on Monday.
• Chefs for Humanity, an organization created by the Food Network's "Iron Chef" Cat Cora, will hold an eBay auction Sept. 12-21 to raise money for UNICEF's Katrina relief fund.
• David Banner, through his Heal The Hood foundation, will hold a Sept. 17 benefit concert in Atlanta with guest appearances/performances by T.I., Nelly and Twista.
• Jazz at Lincoln Center's Sept. 17 benefit concert in New York will air live on PBS. Participants will include Wynton Marsalis, Bill Cosby, Elvis Costello, Robert De Niro, Paul Simon and Bette Midler. Lawrence Fishburn will host and a CD of the concert will be later released.
• Meat Loaf will donate all proceeds from a Sept. 17 concert in Savannah, Ga. to the Red Cross. The singer had been scheduled to play in Biloxi, Miss. on Sept. 16.
• Dashboard Confessional will play three benefit concerts Sept. 18-20 in Toronto, Chicago and Sayreville, N.J.
• Madison Square Garden will host a Sept. 20 benefit concert in New York. The lineup includes Elton John, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Buffett, Bette Midler, Lenny Kravitz and Fats Domino.
• Death Cab for Cutie will hold a benefit concert in Seattle on Sept. 21.
• "Gospel Angels," a live concert from Atlanta, will air Sept. 22 (8 p.m. EDT) on the Gospel Music Channel and Paxson Communications' i network. The show also will include performances from hurricane victims' shelters.
• The New Yorker will host "Parting the Waters," a benefit to be held Sept. 24 in New York featuring music and readings inspired by the artistic culture of the Bayou. Participants include Lou Reed, Woody Allen, Elvis Costello, Kevin Kline and Toni Morrison.
