BURLINGTON, Vt. – The former president of a University of Vermont fraternity house is going to prison for his conviction on cocaine conspiracy charges.
Federal prosecutors say 25-year-old Bent Gunnar Cardan of San Mateo, Calif., will serve six months in jail.
The Justice Department has moved to seize the former Lambda Iota fraternity house where Cardan once served as president because it was used to facilitate drug trafficking.
Prosecutors say Cardan was the main source of cocaine for a distribution ring that was run out of the fraternity house between March 2006 and April 2007, when he was arrested.
Two other fraternity members prosecutors say were involved in the conspiracy have already been convicted.
