North Richland Hills police arrested a former major league baseball player Thursday on two charges of sexual assault authorities say occurred while he was coaching a girls’ basketball team in 1998 and 1999, KDFW TV reported.

Melvin Hall Jr., a former player for various MLB teams, was arrested in Lewisville without incident Thursday afternoon, according to a department press release.

Richland Hills police received a report in May 2007 from an adult female who said she had been sexually assaulted in 1999 when she was under the age of 17. Another victim under the age of fourteen was also identified during the course of the investigation, the release said.

The alleged suspect identified by the women in each case was Melvin Hall Jr., KDFW reported.

Hall had access to the girls as the coach of an area basketball team.
