Authorities say an escaped St. Tammany Parish inmate has been recaptured and returned to jail.

Sheriff Jack Strain said in a statement Timothy Wayne Murray was captured by deputies in a wooded area north of Covington early Sunday.

The 30-year-old Murray is accused in the April 2006 death of Carl Glass, Jr., who was beaten and strangled in his home east of Slidell.

Hundreds of sheriff's deputies, Louisiana State Police troopers, and others scoured the piney woods within a 20-mile radius of the jail for Murray. He had broken out of jail last week with three other inmates who were recaptured within hours.
