Police say five to 10 women have come forward with allegations against a southern Illinois doctor accused of drugging and fondling a pregnant patient while she was unconscious.

Prosecutors say 53-year-old Roger Schroeder — an obstetrician and gynecologist — injected a 19-year-old patient with a controlled substance on January 19 and sexually abused her.

Schroeder's attorney says the woman was a patient of Schroeder's and was eight months pregnant at the time of the alleged abuse.

Schroeder has been indicted on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery and criminal sexual abuse. He is free on $100,000 bond.

His attorney has said that he denies the charges.
