Michael C. Hall uses some unconventional tactics to get into character playing a serial killer on "Dexter."

"I just wanted to see what it would feel like to go out solo and pick somebody, not necessarily at random, somebody who seemed to be alone and just move where they moved and try to shadow them and see what that felt like, because it seems to be something Dexter does quite a bit of. That's as far as I took it, I didn't abduct them," Hall recently told FOX News, with a bit of sarcasm of course.

Hall, who played a mortician on HBO's "Six Feet Under" before he got the Showtime gig, says he recently ran into a costume manufacturer at the airport who just got the rights to make the Dexter Halloween costume.

"Maybe I could go as myself," he said.
