Against medical advice, an 18-year-old woman is set to become Britain's youngest mother to give birth conjoined twins.

Laura Williams is due to give birth by Caesarean section this week.

Her daughters are joined from the breastbone to the top of the navel and have separate hearts.

Despite the risks, the teenager and husband Aled, 28, told Sky News they had decided not to abort their daughters, whom they will name Faith and Hope.

"The doctor sat us down and told us that we were having conjoined twins and that I could get rid of them, and if I didn't get rid of them they'd probably end up dying on me or I'd end up losing them before 16 weeks,” Williams said.

Williams said it is against her religion to abort the babies.

Laura, from Shrewsbury, England, is being cared for at Birmingham Women's hospital but will be transferred to another hospital in London for the birth, The Mail On Sunday reported.
