A quick trip around Hannity's America...

Enemies of the State

Now that President Obama and the Democrats' assault on capitalism is in full force, their new target is nationalizing our nation's health care system. The question surrounding that debate is how exactly we can afford the estimated $1 trillion initial price tag.

Well fear not, one of the ideas being circulated is a soda tax! Yes, that's right, Democrats may soon be taking a bite out of your wallet if you choose to enjoy an all-American product like Coca-Cola.

And that's not the only great American institution that Democrats have in their sights. Look out Cheerios, you're next! President Obama's FDA recently sent a letter to the General Mills company telling them to stop advertising the health benefits of Cheerios because the product is not technically a drug. But even the FDA acknowledges "the science is not in question."

I guess Democrats have found a new axis of evil: Coca-Cola and Cheerios. Doesn't that make you feel safe?

Health Care Hoax

At a press conference Wednesday, President Obama discussed the urgency of implementing his universal health care scheme, and for that, he is the subject of Liberal Translation:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: That's why we've got to get this done. We've got to get it done this year.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Before my popularity erodes completely. Please!

OBAMA: We've got to get it done this year.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: 2010 is an election, guys, work with me!

OBAMA: Both in the House and in the Senate, and we don't have any excuses. The stars are aligned.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: They usually are when I appear in public.

OBAMA: Now the problems in our health care system didn't emerge overnight. We've debated about what to do about them for decades.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: And for some reason, people STILL don't want the government in charge!

OBAMA: But too often efforts at comprehensive reform have fallen apart due to special interest lobbying and petty politics, and the failure of all sides to come together.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Mostly, the failure of the right to move left in peace and harmony.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Yes, Mr. President, I'm so grateful you've arrived to align the stars and bring us all together in harmony. I don't know how we survived without it for so long.

Politics of Fear

There are shocking new allegations of ethics violations involving Congressman John Murtha's closest aide.

Politico.com reports that Murtha's chief of staff John Hugya allegedly threatened Murtha's 2008 challenger Republican Bill Russell. Russell, who is a veteran of the United States Army, alleges that Murtha's chief of staff threatened to have him recalled to active duty and be court-martialed for allegedly being politically active while serving in the Army.

The threat from Murtha's aide was made on at least two occasions. According to Russell, Hugya said, "What are you going to do when we get the new secretary of the Army seated and have your [bleep] recalled to active duty for that [bleep] you pulled last summer?"

Well guess what Mr. Murtha: The threats didn't work. Bill Russell is back to challenge you again in 2010!

Learjet Liberal

We used to talk about limousine liberals, but these days we're seeing more and more Learjet liberals. The latest to join the crowd is television talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who took the opportunity to impart this pearl of wisdom on to Duke University's graduating seniors:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OPRAH WINFREY, TALK SHOW HOST: And it is really fantastic to have your own jet, and anybody who says it isn't is lying to you. That jet thing is really good.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

That's odd, coming from somebody who has warned of the dangers of global warming and even had former Vice President Al Gore on her show not once, but twice, to discuss the Earth's fever and what an inconvenient truth it is for all of us to acknowledge.

I guess when they're faced with the choice between giving the Earth a fever and hopping on their jets, you know where the Learjet liberals come down.
