The Coast Guard says it has suspended its search for at least three people missing after two small planes collided off the Southern California coast.

The Coast Guard says helicopters, boats and divers searched a 160-square mile area off Long Beach Harbor but did not find any signs of survivors.

The Federal Aviation Administration says both aircraft took off from Long Beach Airport before the pilot of a third small plane reported seeing the collision Monday evening.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will continue to search underwater for plane wreckage and recover debris.
