Circuit City Stores Inc. (CC), the nation's second biggest consumer electronics store chain, said Friday its December revenue rose 12.1 percent on strong flat-panel TV sales and a tighter business model during the holiday season.

Sales climbed to a record $1.98 billion in the month from $1.77 billion in December 2004. Same-store sales, or revenue at stores open at least a year, rose 10.8 percent. Domestic same-store sales increased 11.1 percent.

"Our record December sales results are further evidence of the great work being done by associates throughout our company," said W. Alan McCollough, Circuit City's chief executive officer. "They executed an effective holiday season plan, which we believe translated into a superior customer experience in all of our sales channels."

Circuit City is the nation's second largest chain of consumer electronics stores behind Best Buy Co. Inc (BBY).
