Circuit City, Napster to Offer Joint Music Service

Retail chain Circuit City (CC) and Web music service Napster (NAPS) said on Friday they would jointly offer a subscription service with access to millions of songs, the latest effort to compete with Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) popular iTunes music store.

The Circuit City + Napster service will begin on April 29 with a subscription cost of $14.95 per month.

U.S. electronics chains and Web music services have sought new ways to team up and compete with iTunes. In October, Best Buy Co. (BBY) introduced a music player and subscription service with partners SanDisk Corp. (SNDK) and RealNetworks Inc. (RNWK).
