SAO PAULO, Brazil – A prosecutor said Tuesday she has asked a judge to indict a U.S. couple on charges of sexually abusing children at a Brazilian nudist colony. Police say hundreds of photos of young boys engaged in homosexual acts were found in their home.
Frederic Calvin Louderback and his companion Barbara Anner have denied the allegations, saying they believe they were set up by wealthy members of the Colina do Sol nudist colony who didn't like their work for poor children, which included free English lessons and sports activities.
Prosecutor Natalia Cagliari said a judge was likely to rule this week on her request for charges of "sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors and conspiracy." The charges could bring 30 years in prison.
Police say Louderback, 63, is from San Diego and Anner, 72, from Georgia, although she authored an article on a Web site promoting Colina do Sol that said she had lived in Southern California.
Police inspector Juliano Ferreira said police found "DVDs and CDs containing hundreds of photographs of young boys posing nude or having sex with each other, though Louderback was not shown in any of the photos seized.
The Associated Press was unable to locate the couple's Brazilian attorneys on Tuesday.
Cagliari also asked for the indictments of a Brazilian couple who allegedly aided the Americans and the parents of three boys as young as 6 who allegedly took money to let their sons be abused.
