Car Runs Into Street Parade in Germany, Killing 3

A car drove into a street parade, killing three people in the western German town of Menden on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

More than 40 persons were injured, four of them severely, police spokesman Dietmar Boronowsky said.

The driver, an elderly man, ran "all the way into the end" of the parade, Boronowsky said.

The cause of the accident was not yet clear, Boronowsky said, but it did not seem to be intentional.

Police, firefighters and helicopters were at the scene to help the injured.

More than 30 persons were so traumatized that they were treated by psychologists.
