President Bush today heads for a holiday break at his ranch in Texas.

He and the first family spent a cozy Christmas Day at the presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland.

The White House says the president gave his wife a silver tray and a purse, and she gave him a new coat and some warming soles to keep his feet warm during cold-weather rides on his mountain bike. The Bushes gave their twin daughters some household items for their apartments.

As for lunch, the Christmas Day menu at Camp David included roast turkey, cornbread dressing, green beans, sweet potato casserole, fruit salad, red velvet cake and both pumpkin and pecan pies.

Bush plans to return to Washington New Year's Day. The following week, he heads off on one of the most extensive overseas trips of his presidency, with stops in Israel, the West Bank, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
