The White House said Thursday that President Bush (search) intends to renominate Ellen Engleman (search) Conners to a second term as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (search).

Conners' two-year term expired Sunday. The safety board's rules require that the vice chairman — Mark Rosenker (search), in this case — to serve as acting chairman until the Senate confirms Conners again.

Bush also said he would renominate Rosenker, whose term is up on April 2, as vice chairman.
